About widths

Shoe widthsare standardizedby Japanese Industries Standards (JIS). Although most shoes displayed in stores only indicate the widths 'EE' and 'EEE', shoes are actually available in the following widths: A, B, C, D, E, EE, EEE, EEEE, F, G. However, as almost everyone wears shoes with widths ranging from EE ~ EEEE, smaller widths are not found in most retail stores.

Measuring the width

To measure the width of your feet, first wear the socks that you would wear with the shoes. (If measuring for leather shoes, wear thin socks made of polyester.) Measure the circumference around the widest part of your foot. Compare your measurement with the JIS charts below to find out your width.
